2025 Social Justice Sunday and Social Justice Convening
The African American Clergy Collective of Tennessee (ACCT) invites you to join us in educating congregations across the Volunteer State about critical issues like criminal justice reform and policing, voting rights, quality education, affordable housing, Medicaid, and many other determinants of healthy individuals and communities. We ask you to designate February 2, 2025, as Social Justice Sunday. On February 4, we invite you to join us in Nashville, where we’ll meet and share with legislators. Social Justice Sunday should offer meaningful advocacy actions for people of all ages. We want it to be a day dedicated to reflecting on fairness, promoting equality, and taking action to support those in need.
Social Justice Sunday will help us overcome the continuous assaults on democracy that are making it more difficult for people who are low-income, black and brown, elderly, and disabled to exercise their sacred freedom to access basic human rights. It’s a day to reflect on social justice principles and work towards a more equitable society. We must educate and equip our congregations to be individual living stones, doers of the word. We must give them the tools and resources to become advocates for the weak and voiceless. Incorporating social justice into our worship service demonstrates that the gospel and justice are not mutually exclusive but represent the heart of God, as evidenced from Genesis to Revelation.
There are numerous ways you can do this:
Through Hymns, Responsive Readings, Congregational Prayer on Biblical Justice Sermons. The links below provide resources, suggestions, and examples.
